NOW Staff Question – Natto is…?

For the June issue of Fukuoka Now, we visited Natto-ya – a restaurant on Jyosuidori that serves up a menu full of natto dishes! Right up there with classics such as “can you use chopsticks?” every foreigner in Japan is repeatedly asked if they like natto —the sticky, fermented soy bean with an aroma comparable in strength to strong, European cheeses. So, for this month’s Fukuoka Now staff question, we were all talking about natto.
