Fukuoka has taken the lead in opening its doors to Asia. With a large number of highly competent international students study at its universities, and multiple foreign diplomatic missions located within the city, Fukuoka has taken on a very international flavour.
At the same time, every year many international students who enjoy living in Fukuoka and would like to find employment here after graduating, continue to leave Fukuoka for other prefectures and other countries.
In the midst of increasing competition between cities around the world, it is of utmost importance that globally-oriented talent is attracted to stay in Fukuoka. As such, in order to increase quality of life and create a positive urban growth cycle in our city, it is necessary not only to welcome and encourage international students to study here, but also to increase opportunities for them to find employment or start their own businesses in the city.
Global Community Fukuoka offers an opportunity for current and former international students, local universities and business, as well as Fukuoka-based consuls to gather together under one roof. By sharing progressive approaches to the challenges of educating and keeping international students in Fukuoka, and by working to strengthen Fukuoka’s global connections, this event is an occasion for industry, academia and government to boost their combined efforts towards the realisation of Fukuoka as a place for globally-minded talent to converge and succeed.
