On Nov. 1, Dr. Makoto Koga opened Fukuoka Neko Hospital, a veterinary clinic specializing in cats, in Befu 4-chome. Dr. Koga, a Fukuoka native, grew up in a house with pet cats and dogs, and since childhood, he had always wanted to become a vet. He received his veterinary medicine degree from Yamaguchi University and completed his residency at the university’s Animal Medical Center. Dogs will not be allowed in his clinic because he says loud noises, like barking, cause cats stress. However, he will accept other smaller “patients”, like songbirds and rabbits.
