Sake made in Fukuoka is proving popular at the food court in the Japan Pavilion at the food-themed Milan Expo in Italy. To encourage brewers to expand into foreign markets, Fukuoka Prefecture approached the Japan Food Service Association, the food court operator, about selling sake at the expo. Sake from five local breweries (one each from the cities of Munakata, Asakura and Yame and the towns of Umi and Kasuya) is available. Fukuoka sake is typified by a mellow flavor and a smooth finish. The Prefecture hopes the success of sake sales in Milan will help to boost the profile of Fukuoka sake abroad. Source: fiba.jp
