Police in Sawara Ward have arrested 52-year old Yuji Kawakami, a part-time worker residing in Hoshiguma 5-chome (Sawara Ward), for alleged bicycle theft. Upon searching his home, they found 73 bicycles, including 19 which had been reported stolen to the police. Kawakami was arrested on the night of Nov. 8 for allegedly stealing a man’s bicycle. The man noticed his bicycle was missing when he returned home for work, and when he checked the surrounding area, he noticed a suspicious individual and called the police. The police apprehended Kawakami, and when they searched his home, they found the man’s bicycle there. Most of the bicycles recovered were high-end sport bicycles. The police investigation is ongoing.
