Pronounced “sher-ra”, it’s Swedish for sea goddess, a name used by the former management at its previous Daimyo location. The new and stylish Sjöra is located on the 5th and 6th floors of a modern building on Nishi-dori across from the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel. From noon, lunch, coffees, teas and deserts are offered in a very bright and airy atmosphere. Pull up a seat at the counter, on the soft sofa, slide into a booth, or venture upstairs to the lounge; there’s a place to match most moods and groups. Ladies love it here thanks to the full-time patisserie’s offerings of ten tempting deserts. After the sun sets and lighting system kicks in, club music starts to filter through the room creating an atmosphere easily imaginable at dinner lounges/clubs in big cities like New York, Berlin, or Shanghai. The menu covers a broad range of Japanese stylized European fare, not just snacks, but full diner-size portions. On Saturdays the tables and chairs are removed from the second floor, the mirror ball is switched on and the DJ turns up the tunes, making Sjora a very cool option for anyone looking for a dinner, dance, drinks, or a Swedish sea goddess!
