Tranoi

A Drink, a Dish and a Song.

“Why isn’t there a relaxing spot in town where you can enjoy music with your meal?” So thought Kaya Ogawa, the guitar-playing owner of Tranoi, an Italian restaurant located on the site of the former Small Spaces cafe. Ogawa prides himself on the homemade noodles he uses in his spaghetti, which you can enjoy with your choice of sauces: fresh tomato, oil, cream or meat. In the evening, have an Italian wine with a seasonal appetizer and a dish of spaghetti or homemade salsiccia (Italian sausage), or if you’re not feeling too peckish, try a salad and tapas with your drink. You can also stop in after 22:00 (“bar time”) to enjoy drinks and live music. (There is even “Jack Daniels with Slide Guitar” (¥1,000) on the menu.) After graduating from culinary school, Ogawa pursued a career in music, living in New Orleans, London and Amsterdam along the way. Wherever he went, he learned the local cuisine and shared his creations with his friends. Good food, good music and good times with your friends—that’s what Tranoi is all about.
