(English) ‘Run Melos’ is based on a short-novel by Osamasu Dazai and is about a young man who stands up for friendship and justice against a tyrant. ‘Run Melos’ will be performed in Minami Civic Center in Fukuoka before travelling to the Small Theatre Big Drama Asia Dialogue Festival (STBD 2013) in Hong Kong. The play will be performed in Japanese with Chinese subtitles. As a FFAC produced production, the play was created by a Fukuoka and Kyushu based performance and production team. Director Erica Yamada’s style is quirky and engaging so, even if you’re only an elementary Japanese speaker, you’re bound to follow at least a little of what’s going on. (English) Bayside Place opens it’s annual “Fugu Goya” blowfish hut on June 1. With a casual, beer garden atmosphere, Fuku Goya promotes Hakata’s blowfish industry by offering a menu with special dishes such as grilled blowfish (¥840), fried blowfish (¥630) and blowfish hotpot (¥735). The food goes well with beer or shochu, and don’t forget to try “Amaou Noble Sweet” a Fukuoka strawberry beer. Last year, approx. 6,000 people attended over the 1.5 month period that the Fuku Goya was open. Make a reservation before arriving, to avoid disappointment.
