(English) Marine World is holding a special “Night Aquarium” Event over Golden Week! The aquarium in Uminonakamichi usually closes at 17:30, but between Apr.27 ~ 29, May 3 ~ May 6 it will stay open until 21:30! The Night Aquarium program includes a sea lion show (18:00), dolphin shows (19:30~, 20:30~), and sea firefly illumination experiment session (18:00~, 19:00~). (English) 6th Futsukaichi Onsen Art Exhibit
(English) The 6th Onsen Art Exhibit will be held in Futsukaichi Hot Springs district of Chikushino on Apr. 28 and 29. This year’s exhibit features an event planned by a former participant in which guests can don kimonos and tour the exhibit venues. The exhibit began as the Onsen Flower Show in 2008 when a local florist started placing floral decorations in cafes and hotels in the hot springs district. Its name was changed to Onsen Art Exhibit in 2010 when a local artists’ group took over organization duties. This year’s event will feature photography and stained glass exhibits at eight venues. Admission is free of charge. The kimono walking tour is limited to female guests only. Those interested can borrow kimonos at no charge or receive free kitsuke (dressing assistance) for their own kimonos. For details contact Yamamoto-san at chabixchabi@yahoo.co.jp. (English) 34th Pia Film Festival in Fukuoka
(English) The 34th Pia Film Festival in Fukuoka will be held Apr. 27~29 in the Theater Hall of Fukuoka City General Library in Momochihama. 16 films – some with English subtitles – will be shown and tickets are available at Ticket Pia outlets or on the day. Each ticket is for entry to one part which will show two films. Tickets are ¥1000 (¥800 Adv.) or for three part packs, tickets are ¥2700 (¥2100 Adv.).

(English) Exhibition on Minamata Disease
(English) A collection of 474 photographs and articles of media coverage and of patients with Minamata disease, a neurological disease caused by severe mercury poisoning, will be held in Fukuoka. The exhibition is held at least once a year in Japan, but it is only the second time it will come to Kyushu. A lecture will also be held at the same location. The exhibition will take place May 15~27 from 10:00~20:00 at JR Kyushu Hall (9F JR Hakata City). Entry is ¥1,000 ( ¥800 Adv.) for the exhibition and ¥1,000 ( ¥800 Adv.) for the lecture.
