The Fukuoka Employers’ Association released the results of its survey of local companies’ new employment results for the current fiscal year, which showed that 45.3% said they had increased hiring from the previous year. This was a 5.1 percentage-point increase from the previous year, and the second year-on-year rise. The reason for the new hires, cited by 87.2% of those respondents, was to replace retiring employees. The association said this was significant in light of the large number of members of the baby boomer generation leaving the workforce.
