The Nagasaki City-based Eighteenth Bank announced plans to eliminate 50 of the roughly 170 ATMs they’ve placed outside their branches. The bank’s objective is to save money and to make their banking network more efficient. They plan to begin removing the ATMs in September after discussions with people in the communities affected. The bank recorded a net consolidated loss of 14.3 billion yen in FY 2008, its first loss in four years.
