On Dec. 4, English Camp in Momochi 2014, wrapped up it’s third and final day at the Fukuoka International School (FIS) in Momochi, Fukuoka City. This was the third year for the event which brings Junior High School students from schools from around the city to study in English. This year 20 students (campers) from 18 public and two privates schools participated. Each camper was assigned a “buddy”from FIS Middle School. The campers and buddies had frequent opportunities to communicate and interact with each other. On the final day four groups of campers took turns on stage to deliver presentations on the City of Fukuoka – all in English! These “Junior Ambassadors of Fukuoka” did a great job of introducing the city’s highlights from the food to attractions. Awards and certificates were presented to all. The annual event generates awareness of FIS around the city as well as providing an enjoyable opportunity for cultural and language exchange amongst Middle School students.
