According to the results of City Hall’s FY2014 Fukuoka City Opinion Survey on City Government, 96.7% of the 2,500 respondents said they liked Fukuoka and 95.3% said it was a livable city. The survey, which was conducted last May and June, queried local residents on everything from livability to yatai food stalls. While very high percentages indicated they liked the city and enjoyed living here, the outcomes were not all rosy: 55.8% expressed dissatisfaction with “citizens’ manners”, 51.4% with “crime rates” and 33.6% with “career opportunities.” Breaking down the figures, data showed that the longer people live in Fukuoka, they more they come to like the city. Residents also said they were happy with the abundance of delicious food (89.1%) and the scarcity of natural disasters (85.7%). Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 1/27 “Provided by the City of Fukuoka.”
