Goats Replace Grass Cutters In Oita

Crane Yufuin, a horseback riding club in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture has ditched their power grass cutters for eco-smart goats to trim their fields. The switch has saved the club considerable money and the noise from the mechanical weed cutters no longer startles the horses. The shift to goat power began five years ago with “Otousan” (“father” in Japanese) and his wife “Merry”. Two years ago, their daughter “Komerry” was born, and now the three of them happily eat grass from morning to sunset. Sometimes they raise their heads to cry out “Umeeeeee!” (delicious!) to visitors.
