Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare announced statistics for the year 2011 regarding HIV infections and cases of AIDS. The number of recorded HIV infections and AIDS cases is the largest since record taking began in 1984. In Kyushu, HIV infections increased from 62 in 2010 to 85 cases in 2011 and the number of AIDS case rose from 43 people to 54 for the same periods. Source: Nishinippon Newspaper 5/26/2012
