Italian Cruise Ship Arrives in Hakata

The “Costa Victoria”, an Italian cruise ship, docked at Hakata Port yesterday (May 20) for the first time. The ship belongs to Italian cruise company Costa Cruises and is around 253m long, with a 2,400 passenger capacity. To commemorate the ship’s arrival, a ceremony was held at Hakata Port, attended by Fukuoka’s governor Ogawa, and mayor Takashima. According to the Fukuoka City Port Authority, 2012 is expected to be a busy year for Hakata Port, with an estimated 78 arrivals over the course of the year, making it the most visited port in Japan.
