On Mar. 5 Kirin Beer announced that its nine regional factories from Hokkaido to Kyushu will each release slightly different flavors of its popular Ichiban-shibori beer. Part of the brand’s 25th anniversary, the regional beers will go on sale May 19 until the end of July. The Fukuoka Plant in Asakura City will produce a beer called “Ichiban-shibori Fukuoka-zukuri”, which will only be available in Kyushu and Okinawa. It will use 100% locally grown barley and, according to Kirin, the beer’s aroma will be tweaked to make it pair better with yakitori, motsunabe and other local delicacies.
