The city of Kitakyushu has decided to accept the Tohoku disaster debris from Ichinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, to help with the disposal. Mayor Kenji Kitahashi announced the decision on the 20th, the last day of the City Council session. They expect to incinerate 60-70,000 tons between August and next March, and bury the ash in the city.
