Fukuoka University released the results of a survey it took of top executives at leading Kyushu companies regarding the future of the regional economy. The survey showed that 80% of the executives thought that agriculture was a promising sector for the future. Those who disagreed thought that legal restrictions and cultural practices in farming communities made it too difficult to enter the sector. The survey also revealed that more than 60% of the executives were hopeful about the adoption of a state/province system in Japan, though fewer than 20% said they were following the debate closely.
