The organizing committee for Rugby World Cup 2019, which will be held in Japan, held a press conference in Tokyo on Nov. 5 to accept applications from 14 municipalities aiming to play host to some of the matches. Of the 14 applicants, four were from Kyushu: Fukuoka City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Kumamoto Prefecture/Kumamoto City and Oita Prefecture.The organizing committee will select between 10 and 12 venues by next March, and the finals are already scheduled to be held in the new National Stadium in Tokyo, which is slated for completion in 2019.
List of applicant venues in Kyushu:
Fukuoka City: Level Five Stadium
Nagasaki Prefecture: Prefectural Sports Park and Athletics Stadium
Kumamoto Prefecture/Kumamoto City: Umanaka Yokana Stadium
Oita Prefecture: Oita Bank Dome
