The World Expo Shanghai to open next May will feature a Kyushu-Okinawa Week on the site. The Japanese pavilion to be operated by the Japanese government will promote tourism in the region from the end of September to the beginning of October. In addition, private sector groups are being solicited to present cultural offerings, as well as people to serve as volunteers at the site. About 70 million people are expected to attend the Expo.
