Retailers in Kyushu are bolstering their service counters in preparation for the move.Hakata Daimaru has opened a new service counter for duty-free shoppers and installed a machine that allows the exchange eight different currencies into yen. Meanwhile, Iwataya and Mitsukoshi plan to release a guidebook that lists their new services and programs aimed at duty-free shoppers. Since the individual retailers in shopping centers must obtain their own permits to offer duty-free goods, Fukuoka Jisho, the real estate company that manages Canal City Hakata, is urging tenants to apply for permits.
