Despite Ministry of Health notices stating that there is almost no chance for the Ebola virus, which is ripping through west Africa, to infect Japan, Kyushu has started taking precautions. Airports on the island have stepped up monitoring of airline passenger fevers and have put up posters about the disease. According to the World Health Organization, 2630 people have died from the virus in five west African countries. Although Fukuoka has no direct flights to Africa, passengers can get there by transferring in Asia or the Middle East. Nishinippon Shimbun 9/22
