For the first time in more than a decade, a comprehensive bilingual guide to Fukuoka’s flourishing art scene has been released as a printed booklet. The “Kyushu-Okinawa Artist File” is a who’s who – an English/Japanese survey of the regions’ contemporary artists, art spaces and projects. The book introduces 58 artists – their work, concepts and views along with 125 contemporary art spaces and projects. Its Chief Editor, Kinoshita Takako, says the project aims to snapshot the art community as it is now. Takako hopes the publication will one day act as an archive of area’s arts community. The “KOA”, which will be launched September 1 (¥1,300), also includes an Autumn calendar of key local art events. Pictured here with Ms. Kinoshita is Yukiko Miyazaki, a member of the editorial team.
