Construction of a new arch bridge in Uminonakamichi started on April 13. The bridge, “Uminonakamichi Oohashi”, is located in Island city- the artificial island in Higashi-ku. Upon completion, it will connect Island city to Shikanoshima, with hopes of reducing traffic jams in the area. The bridge is scheduled for completion in spring 2014.
