West Nippon Expressway Company (NEXCO West) will start selling the Kyushu Expressway Pass, an “all-you-can-drive” highway pass for foreign tourists on Oct. 1. Available through Dec. 26, passes start at ¥2,500 for two days and run up through ¥15,000 for 10 days. The company hopes to win business from foreign visitors to Kyushu, and passes will only be available to customers who rent cars at one of 77 Nippon Rentacar Kyushu or Toyota Rent-a-Lease shops in Kyushu. The passes are a good value, too. With a ¥7,500 seven-day pass, a tourist who started at Fukuoka Airport, circled the island and ended at Kitakyushu Airport could save ¥2,960. Coinciding with this new pass, the Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization and the seven prefectures have teamed up to create English, Chinese and Korean pamphlets showcasing the island’s attractions.
