Nishi-Nippon Railway (Nishitetsu) has launched an enterprise for the purchase, renovation, and resale of condominiums built roughly 20 years ago in the Fukuoka City area. The economic downturn has resulted in a 30% year-on-year plunge in new condominium sales. The company expects that remodeling older condos purchased at auctions or through other means, and then reselling them at relatively cheaper prices, will be a fillip for the local real estate industry.
