On Sept. 4 Fukuoka City released the initial draft of the initiatives planned for the Special Zone for Global Startups and Job Creation (one of the Japanese government’s National Strategic Zones). Entitled “Global Startup City: A Vision for Fukuoka”, one of the draft plan’s aims is to make it easier for foreigners to set up businesses. Measures to facilitate this include simplified immigration procedures for entrepreneurs and their families and support for Japanese language lessons. The city also hopes to increase the number of available hospital beds as part of its efforts to promote an advanced healthcare cluster. It will also consider allowing foreign doctors and nurses to practice medicine within the confines of the Special Zone. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 9/5 (image Provided by the City of Fukuoka.)
