Tokyo Developer To Redevelop Praliva Into 30-Story High-Rise

Sources have revealed that real estate developer Tokyo Kensetsu will redevelop Nishijin El Mall Praliva into a mixed-use high-rise. The leading proposal calls for the closure of Praliva by the end of July 2015, after which time a new 30-story building will be built. The top floors of new building will be dedicated to condos, with the remaining floors earmarked for commercial space. If everything goes according to schedule, the new building will be finished by 2018 and will become a new landmark for the city’s west end. Praliva opened in 1981 as the cornerstone of the Nishijin Iwataya department store. Amid slumping sales, it was sold to Tokyo Kensetsu in 2003 and renamed Nishijin El Mall Praliva.
