JR Kyushu announced it will add one more car to its Yufuin no Mori tourist train and begin running a 5-car train between Hakata and Yufuin (Oita Pref.) on July 18. The company will also revamp the interior of the train to respond to an uptick in demand from foreign tourists, who already account for 80% of ridership. The new design, which aims to evoke the feeling of a forest, will be supervised by Eiji Mitooka, the renowned industrial designer who has worked on several JR Kyushu trains to date. With the additional train car, Yufuin no Mori will now be able to accommodate a total of 266 passengers. . Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 6/20
