If this month’s issue feels heavier, it is! We’ve added eight extra pages this month in order to introduce some of Fukuoka’s up-and-coming international visual artists. All seven will appear in person with examples of their art at Fukuoka Now’s Creative Community event on Nov. 8. We also introduce the participating performers restaurants and bars. We’re also very pleased to announce the first ever LGBT pride parade in Fukuoka. FN staff spoke with the organizers about this landmark happening. There was another first-ever in Fukuoka. The international television network, CNN filmed a report on Fukuoka for the first time. Fukuoka Now’s Editor-in-Chief, Nick Szasz, guided the crew to food related landmarks including Ichiran ramen, the central fish market, the fields of Itoshima and yatai. A link to the report is included. Feeling lucky? FN staff visited Peraboat, where you can gamble on Boat Races in comfort. For our seasonal guide, this month we list up over twenty recommended spots to take in koyo (fall colors) – complete with a foliage forecast, maps and links to other sites. Regular readers might remember we reported on a fantastic pizzeria called Pizzeria De Gaetano. This month we introduce it’s sister shop Griglia di Gaetano, which instead of pizza serves grilled meat, tasty side dishes and plenty of wines to match. Interested in the brand new children’s hospital, then read about that and more in the latest City Bulletin. And what was Charles Lindberg doing in Fukuoka in 1931? Read our Fukuoka Topics made to find out! Hope to see many of our readers at the Creative Community 2014 event on Sat., Nov 8 at JR Kyushu Hall.
