New Daihatsu Truck Caters to Farm Women

Daihatsu has begun selling the latest model of its Hijet Truck, the first complete overhaul of the popular “kei truck” model in 15 years. Working in cooperation with the agriculture ministry’s Female Farmer Project, Daihatsu lowered the driver’s seat floor 4cm and made other adjustments based on opinions gathered from female farmers. The long-selling Hijet first went on sale in 1960, and since then 3.98 million have been produced. The new model is now offered in eight colors, including orange and light blue, and will be manufactured at Daihatsu’s plant in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture.Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 9/3
