Tokyo-based department store Parco announced that the new building of its Fukuoka store will open on Nov. 13. Once the new building opens, Parco says it aims to attract 20 million visitors a year—a higher target than its Ikebukuro outlet in Tokyo. To respond to shoppers’ who said there are not enough places to relax in downtown Fukuoka, Parco’s new building in Tenjin will have eight cafes and other “relaxation spaces” . The entire complex will be outfitted with free Wi-Fi, a first for PARCO, and the store will encourage shoppers to download its smartphone app. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 9/5
