Kyushu to Get Tourism Fund

The regional banks of the prefectures of Kyushu and the Regional Economy Vitalization Corporation of Japan (REVIC), government-backed fund, have joined forces to launch a fund to invest in Kyushu’s tourism industry. The first such fund of its kind to cover the entire island of Kyushu, the fund will eventually reach up to ¥5 billion. With an uptick in foreign visitors to Kyushu, the fund aims to provide support to companies in the tourism industry for investments in facilities renovations and other infrastructure. It can also be used for designing tours, creating hands-on events for tourists and building webpages. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 10/1
