Fukuoka-based spicy mentaiko maker Fukuya has started selling do-it-yourself mentaiko kits that allow customers to recreate Fukuya’s trademark flavor in the comfort of their own home. The company decided to offer the kits amid the rising popularity of the make-your-own-mentaiko classes it has been offering since opening the Hakata Food Culture Museum in Higashi Ward in 2013. The kits cost ¥3,000 and can be ordered online.
