The Fukuoka Prefectural Government has decided to build six hydrogen stations within the prefecture. Aiming to usher in a hydrogen energy era, the Prefecture has worked to promote research and development into hydrogen and fuel cell technology, develop human resources and foster related industries. Meanwhile, Fukuoka FCV Club, a public-private venture, is pushing for the early adoption of fuel-cell vehicles (FCV) and the installation of hydrogen stations. Now, with the approval of a supplementary budget for FY2014, the decision has been made to subsidize the construction of six new hydrogen stations. Including existing and planned facilities, this move will bring the number of hydrogen stations in the prefecture up to the initial target of 10. Fukuoka Prefecture will continue its efforts to develop Fukuoka into a hub for FCVs by promoting their popularization and moving ahead with hydrogen station construction plans.
